Get up to the net!

Crisis Solutions' resident tennis expert, Stuart Beattie, often talks about 'getting up to the net' in a crisis. It's easy to stay on the baseline, just returning shots and trying to survive. But to maximise your chances of winning you need to get up to the net and take control. It's the same with this impending Coronavirus threat.

In many countries, there's a distinct possibility that the 'containment' phase has failed and the outbreak is highly likely to become widespread.  Face masks, travel policies and hand gels might slow the spread of transmission now, but the probably aren’t going to prevent it. What's needed now is a strategic response by organisations.

Company directors, executives and business continuity and crisis managers have an unwavering responsibility to ensure the continuity or their organisation. This means planning a strategic response to any crisis.

Dealing with a crisis is not about being reactive, and dealing with incoming problems as they arise. It’s about having a structured, logical approach to the challenges presented by a crisis. Most organisations have a structured approach in their plans, and it’s certainly something Crisis Solutions look for in any organisation we work with.

So, having dealt with the operational solutions, now is the time to take a step up to the net and get strategic.
