Sheena Thomson
Sheena is a global communications leader specialising in strategic, crisis and issues communications. Throughout her career, Sheena has built a solid reputation in military media operations, government advisory and corporate communications roles. Sheena is an expert in the field of planning, training and managing communications during and after situations that threaten or impact lives, business operations or reputation.
Sheena is a former Royal Navy Officer who specialised in military human resources and media operations. During her uniformed career, she mastered the most fundamental communication skills: listening and crafting clear communications with a complex subject matter in often challenging settings.
After twelve years, she ‘retired’ as a Lieutenant Commander and took a corporate communications role in financial services before embarking on an eleven-year communications career in international relations.
Sheena has deployed, consulted, or lived and worked in several countries and has been a resident of Macedonia, Egypt, UAE, Oman and Thailand. Her assignments during this time included spokesperson and senior advisory roles for NATO, the EU, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Executive Council General Secretariat and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Sheena has been at the centre of managing a number of sensitive and challenging issues. These include aircraft accidents, political crises, security issues, regulatory challenges and post-IPO issues management. Sheena was also resident in Thailand leading up to the coup d’état in 2014.
Sheena’s global experience enables her to operate in any environment, culture and country with ease and confidence. She fully understands the cultural communication dynamics in an international, regional and local context.
